MEET HANA
Fascinated by antiques from a young age, I would follow my dad around our local flea market searching for forgotten treasures, and my maternal grandmother around antique stores as she sought out her favorite thing to collect— depression glass. She would let me pick out little glasses to add to my own “collection” and as the years passed I slowly fell in love with the history behind every little object found in these stores. I started to see every item as something that was meticulously designed by someone, created with raw materials, and then eventually chosen by another person to purchase either as a gift, or for themselves. This sentimentality stuck with me and after purchasing my first antique piece— an Art Deco synthetic ruby ring— with my grandmother at 16, I knew I wanted to be around jewelry as often as possible and learn everything there was to know about the history behind it. Shortly after graduating from college, I got my first job in jewelry as an intake specialist at an estate jewelry company. I spent nearly four years there learning everything I could about the jewelry industry, working my way up from doing intake to traveling across the country buying and selling with other dealers and stores. To this day my favorite pastimes are researching jewelry and hallmarks, traveling around to source pieces, and sharing what I learn with other collectors and jewelry lovers.
MEET CHRISTINE
My journey into the world of jewelry began during my time as a wedding planner. Hearing the stories behind my brides’ engagement rings and wedding day adornments made me really come to appreciate the profound emotion woven into each jewel. This led me to begin my studies at GIA, immersing myself in the art and science of gemology and earning my Graduate Diamonds diploma. In completing coursework and becoming a candidate member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, I gained a deeper understanding of how to value our antique and vintage treasures. Now I live for unraveling the mysteries of each piece- sifting through each element to uncover its history and carefully studying the unique characteristics of gemstones to discover their identities. But my greatest joy lies in sharing our one-of-a-kind finds with fellow enthusiasts. When I'm not lost in the allure of gems, you'll often find me singing Taylor Swift with my five-year-old twins, enjoying cuddles from my yorkipoo, Damien, or seeking out the best coffee and dessert spots with my husband. I’m so happy you’re here to join us on this sparkling adventure!
